The Board of Trustees

The Board is the policy making body of Los Encinos School, a nonprofit, tax-exempt corporation. The Board of Trustees includes parents of students (past and present), the Head of School, and involves members of the community at large. In addition to establishing school policies, the Board has the primary fiduciary responsibility for the continued financial stability and long-term viability of the School.

Duties include responsibility for the School’s operating budget, capital assets, and fundraising efforts. In addition, the Board hires, supports, and evaluates the Head of School but is not involved in the day to day running of the School. The role of the Board is to ensure adherence to the School’s mission, to safeguard the integrity of the School, and to provide for the future of the School.

A Message from the Board Chair

August 4, 2025

Dear Los Encinos School Community,

I’m honored and excited to begin my term as Chair of the LES Board of Trustees for the 2025–2026 school year. It’s a privilege to step into this new role and continue to support the school I love!

First, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our outgoing Chair, David ZeBrack, for his remarkable leadership over the past three years. David has been a driving force behind many key initiatives, most notably securing a long-term lease extension with St. Nicholas Church, which ensures the stability and continuity of our beloved Encino campus for the next thirty years – a legacy that will benefit generations of students to come. I’m also delighted to share that David will remain an active presence on the Board as a Vice Chair, where his wisdom and support will continue to guide us.

The Executive Team is rounded out by Joe Schneier, Seth Weinger, and Meena White. Their expertise and commitment are invaluable, and I look forward to working closely with them in the year ahead.

Please join me in warmly welcoming Gail Silverton, our newest trustee. Gail is an experienced educator and proud grandmother of two incoming students, and she brings a fresh perspective and boundless enthusiasm to the Board. At the same time, we bid a heartfelt farewell to Jill Namm and John Rubeli, whose years of service have left a lasting impact on our community. We thank them deeply for their dedication and care.

Each year, I’m inspired by the Board’s breadth of experience and diversity of perspectives – spanning current parents, grandparents, and alumni parents alike – and this year is no exception. Our collective insights fuel the stewardship that makes Los Encinos School such a special place.

Finally, I want to thank Ilene and the exceptional leadership of our school administration, whose unwavering support for our faculty, staff, and – most importantly – our students, is evident in every corner of campus life.

Here’s to another bright and promising year ahead!

Warmly,
Angie Shellow
