Fifth grade’s study of THE NEW WORLD and historical EXPLORATION includes experiments with natural dying processes, the study of medicinal plant properties, and the utilization of the natural world in Colonial America.

In the studio this week an investigation of bowl construction introduced pinch pots and coil building techniques. We filled the tiny vessels with miniature hollow forms for kiln firing: tiny carrots, apples, strawberries, pumpkins…all our favorite bounties of the harvest to celebrate this rich season.…
