Welcome back! I hope that all of you had a great summer!
As LES begins its 39th year as an independent school, one of the great pleasures of being the Board Chair is having the opportunity to express, on behalf of the Board, our gratitude for the generosity that each of our LES families continues to show the school. Like most public and private schools, LES holds an Annual Fund campaign to cover the gap between the actual cost of educating students and tuition revenue. Last year, for the fifth consecutive year, LES raised the largest amount of money in its history, but even more importantly, our community again achieved the 100% participation threshold (parents, faculty, staff, and board) for the fifth year in a row. Very few schools, if any, can boast such a performance.
As a Board our primary consideration is the long-term sustainability of LES. With an altruistic and enthusiastic community like ours, it makes the job much easier. As a result of our community’s largesse, LES remains in a strong financial position and we have been able to continue making investments in both the qualitative educational experience as well as the facilities afforded to our children.
Ilene and her staff have continued to do an exceptional job at providing a strong direction for the school. Last year, the governing body for private schools in California re-accredited LES for a period of 6 years, the longest time possible under the guidelines.
I would like to thank all the members of the LES Board for their continued commitment to our school, and most importantly, thank each of you for your continuing dedication to our community.
Thank you all and I look forward to an outstanding 2018-2019 school year!
